Hajooj Kuka, Sudanese director of BEATS OF THE ANTONOV, a documentary that won awards at various festivals including Toronto, Durban and Luxor, spent two years living with farmers, shepherds and dispelled rebels along the Blue Nile and in the Nuba Mountains. He portrays their lives in hide-outs and refugee camps that are under constant threat of air strikes during the civil war. But the people do not lose heart. After each air strike, they laugh and play music as a sign that the raid is over and they have survived.

The supporting film ADAM & HOWA tells of the inner conflicts faced by young people in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum and how they hope for a better future. A young rickshaw driver is mourning the loss of his family when an encounter with a mysterious woman changes his life.

Followed by a concert of the refugee band S. P. Music in the foyer of the Filmhauskino!

In cooperation with recherche international e. V. & kein mensch ist illegal
